Paraglide is recreational flying activity with audacity. Its competitive adventure sport of flying with par gliders: foot-launched glider aircraft with no rigid primary structure. Mountainous country Nepal has many locations from where one can take off via such aircraft. Pokhara is the main region to make such soar. Pokhara where one can enjoy his paragliding above Phewa Lake viewing Annapurna region, where 3 of the worlds 8,000 meters peaks lies.
There are several sites around Phewa Tal (the lake) but the most accessible is Sarangkot (1500m ASL). It’s a view point at 700m beyond Pokhara with a short walk from Pokhara in can reach the place to take off. With the lake 2000ft below, the mountains behind, and the unlimited potential for XC and out and returns, this has quickly become the main site for the area, and many pilots have based themselves in Pokhara for the season, flying from this mountain alone.
Paragliding is relatively new adventure sport in Nepal and fewer companies are engaged with it. Depending on weather best time for this adventurous flight are March, April, October, November and December. Take off point for paragliding is Sarankot, although there are other places too, it’s the major and famous place for this.
