Tibet

Mystery, adventure and spirituality are three pillar of Tibet. It’s the land of myths, landscapes, monasteries and trails. Tibet is the breathtakingly beautiful landscape. The land has iconic identity with the Potala Palace. Which is regarded as 'Roof of the World' has elevation average around 4,500 meters. Actually Tibet is an autonomous Region of China which lies on Central Asia the southern from main land of China. It is full of uninhabited and rugged landscape except Lhasa, Shigatse, Chamdo which developed as live hub for commerce, trade and tourism.

Lhasa is the capital city as well as Tibet’s spiritual center. The two centers Potala Palace and Norbulinka are important and attractive destination for tourists. These were used as residence of Dalai Lama spiritual leader. Tibet has many monasteries and temples scattered around Lhasa. One can say this 'Roof of the World' is also the world of Monasteries. These religious places have more attraction of travelers.

Shigatse the second largest city of Tibet situated west of Lhasa. Tingri, Sichuan, Qinghai is other major destination of it. Traveler can see Mt. Sisha Pangma (8,212 m) and Mt. Everest (8,850 m) among others. Qinghai-Tibet railway service directly connects Tibet with China. Which is called truly an engineering wonder "Tibet Train", "Sky Train", "Lhasa Express", "Rocket to the rooftop of the world", "World's highest railway" the Golmud-to-Lhasa section of Qinghai Tibet Railway offers the most breath-taking scenery. The segment is the world's highest railways at the elevation of 5072 meters.

Geography

Roof of the World, Tibet Chinese autonomous region lays Southern side of mainland China. Tibet is the highest region on the earth with an average elevation of 4900 meters. Tibet occupies 1,221,700 square kilometers with eastern, southern and northern parts. Eastern part is covered by forest occupying around 25% of territory. The southern part covers almost half of Tibet. Northern and Central region is an agricultural region occupying the rest as well as containing major cities Lhasa, Gyantse, Shigatse, Gyatsa, and Tsedang.

Culture

Buddhism is the main religion and ideology of Tibet.Bon is the ancient religion of Tibet, but has been more or less eclipsed by Tibetan Buddhism, distinctive form of Mahayana and Vajrayana introduced into Tibet from the Sanskrit Buddhist tradition of Nepal. Inspring the tradition of people in Tibet are friendly. Dalai Lama is the highest spiritual leader for them.

Climate

Tibet has high altitude with an average elevation of 4,900 meters.of above winter becomes cold with little snow except in few location. Sun shines brightly and cold air blows. The temperature comes up (25 to 30° C.) and gets warm but not hot in the summer still the sun can be very strong. In Central & Western Tibet there get small rains in June to August and especially the summer and autumn are dry.

Food

Even there are many Chinese/Tibetan restaurants in Zhangmu, Nyalam and Shegar, food are comparatively poor and so if you are taking a tours to Lhasa some dry food items are recommended. You can also bring cup, spoon along with tea/instant soup as every guesthouse / hotel provides hot water in thermos. While you are in Shigatse and Lhasa all kind of foods are available. If you are taking trips outside, you should bring enough food as it is quite difficult to get in other parts of Tibet.
